Hey is there anyway I can run the two small wires that go to the starter different? Everytime my headers get hot the wire melts. I know on some older cars that they have the wires ran to some type of solenoid that is up near the battery? What do you call that part and can I do the same on my cutlass? What is just the best way to run my wires?

It's a ford solenoid. All you do is hardwire the solenoid on the starter and run the two wires to the ford solenoid along with the battery wire and the start wire to it's terminal. Then the starter wire from the solenoid to the stater and your done.

it's the "add wire" on the starter solenoid...the switch is closed whenever there is power to the starter

Are you saying that your headers are melting your wires? or are the wires melting when you turn the key? On my car i bent some fuel line for my starter wire to go through. and for my 4 gauge to the starter from the battery i used some DEI sheilding wrap.
