How many wires run down to the starter

So today i was working on my elco and i came across a burnt up starter wire as i was about to replace it i came across a wire that was cut & just laying next to the other wires that go to the starter. does the wire with the arrow need to go to the starter :?:
TOP 3 WIRES WERE CONNECT

yes, there are two red wires with a fusible link in each, the battery cable and the purple wire to trigger the solenoid

my car still starts up with that wire not connected tho

so there is suppose to be 3 wire that connect to the battery terminal & 1 wire on the s terminal

it will still start but some of your electrical system won't be functioning. Yes, the two red and battery cable attached to the large terminal and then the purple wire to the small terminal

Ahhh man i was having the same problems. but these guys on here are the ishhhhhh they will help u out...they know what they talking about...trust me!!! hope it all works out...but to me that red wire looks like it will come from the alternator? i could be wrong

so today i pulled the wire out of the harness & come to find out the wire is purple not red & it runs through the fire wall with these wires.

that wire looks more like pink in the picture and the right gauge for the power wire to the distributor

the gauge of the fusible link is a wire 4 gauges smaller than the wire. It's like a slow burning fuse and can be heated up but will be ok when cooled unlike a fuse that will pop
