Just like it says. I am currently building a 455 for my 78 cutlass . I wanted to see some pics. Do you need to modify the heater box if I use tall valve covers ? Thanks everybody :D

do you have non a/c or an a/c box? I know Blake442 had to mod his non a/c box for tall valve covers, but stock height will fit i believe. Someone will clarify though.

the company A/C Delete Panels has a nice kit. I bought one. You just delete the a/c and get to keep your heat. I have a SBO and with 4" tall Mondello valve covers they didnt fit. But any other regular tall valve covers fit fine. A 455 would probably be fine as long as you dont use those really tall covers.

You may or may not have to modify the AC box even with stock height covers, just depends on the car. Tall covers are a no-go either way.

Couple of pictures of my modified 455 in the '87. I'm thinking about getting rid of all the silver/chrome though and powder coating everything satin black. The silver/chrome idea looked awesome when it was just the pieces bolted to the engine on an engine stand but the more "stuff" that needed to be added to the engine, the less the engine really "popped". I think black would make it less unassuming.

Yes, I did have to modify my non-a/c heater box to run the tall valve covers, but it was pretty easy to do.

Did you modify the hood to clear the air cleaner? Or is it just a tight fit?
