That was a good job for someone with the time and common sense. Just think if he did that with a 403! That is the things I look at when the engine is apart. What can I do to make things better. Then time plays a factor and it's ok do this and that and get it going.

Modern tricks work, no matter the engine brand. By totally redesining a fair at best head design to flow and still have great velocity is a big part. Lack of heads is a big part why the Olds 307 is ignored. Just imagine those heads with a modern chamber, would turn a performance 0 to hero. Add in a fast ramp cam, thin ring pack etc, it all adds up to power and better efficiency.
