Will axles from an 8.5 rear end fit into a 7.5 rear end? I currently have a 7.5 rear end in my Cutlass, and am planning to swap out the stock carrier, gears, bearings, axles, etc and installing new units (ie. a trutrac posi, 3.73 gear ratio, a set of 28 spline axles, bearings, etc). I'm planning on ordering axles from Tom's Differentials, and need to know the length before ordering. And yes, I know most of you will recommend not beefening up a 7.5, as it's pointless, but such is life.

yeah as long as the carrier is 28 spline as well. I had a set of GN axles, Zexel torsen lsd and a Summit reinforced diff girdle for my 87 SS 7.625 rear axle that I sold to my buddy and it's holding up pretty good behind his lt1 swapped Grand prix!
