they came in 2 bolt and 4 bolt mains. I believe they also used that number for the mexian blocks.

if you look behind the timing cover or the flywheel/flexplate and see a 10/20 thats the high nickel block. strongest block they made.

they are good castings.

Ditto- I have had 2 of those blocks, both 010 'high nickel' block- One a 4 bolt (bored .060 over), one a 2 bolt. Great blocks!!

I still have the 2 bolt as a bare block- need to be machined because the previous rebuilder did a shoddy job rebuilding it- the rear main bearing spun so bad that it has about .010 deep grooves in it. I would sell the block to anyone who wants it for $40 just so I don't see it go to scrap! You could line bore it and stick a 400 sb crank in it to make a stroker

A 3970010 is the most common block i've seen for a gen 1 350. They are starting to get harder to find now days. if its a 10/20 block they are even more difficult to find. They came in 2/4 bolt main, and 2-piece rear main seal. The only way to tell how many bolt main is to drop the oil pan and look. They yards around here were stuffed full of them 8-10 years ago. Now days not so much. When I come accross a rebuildable one, i'll pick them up if the guy doesn't want too much for it. I've seen people trying to sell them for $300-$350 bucks for a core lately. People think $1.00 per cubic inch is the going rate now. However, they don't move them unless a person that doesn't know what they are doing is looking for one.

if it is rebuildable, it's worth buying. I paid $200 for my .060 over block with cam bearings, and new freeze plugs installed, fresh from the machine shop because he bored it for a customer that never came back, and wanted something for it... Score and a half! I just sold the short block for $350 cash and a good stb bore 350 short block.

i have a standard bore 010 block, 10/20 too. only downside is it's a 2 bolt main but that isn't a big deal. i got it as a short block for a measly 50 bucks. i thought it was a good price given it's still standard bore.
