Just picked up this 79 wagon, snagged it for 1500 bucks, has a new engine with an rv cam and new trans. The bad is that its interior is pretty shot and about 5 colors with a completly worn out steering column, also has spring jacks in the reear to lift the rear up so those huge tires wil fit. Its sitting on red corvette rallys and the car is saton black so it has sort of a rat rod feel to it. So far I've went and got 4 new shocks, new doorseals, new rear cargo springs so I can get the rear out of space and dye to get the interior all black, a new full dash cover from gbodyparts as well as a new carpet. Tomorrow I plan on ordering the steel 2inch cowl hood for it. Well there it is let me know what you guys think. Ill post up pictures of the cutlass I picked up about a month ago as well

Looks good, Josh!
I don't think you did bad for $1500.00.
Thanks for posting pics of your new toy.
Is the rear bumper rusted thru, or is it surface rust and peeling chrome? Also, is the quarter window trim missing and do you have it?

Yeah the back bumper is rusted thru, he did throw another that is pretty good in with it and all the chrome and then some is in the back, he just never put it back on. Is there anyone that makes anything for the wagons besides the normal malibu parts? Interior/trim and so on?

Looks like a pretty decent project...nice find!

As you mention some of the Malibu parts will work...for the body fenders forward at least. I don't think anyone is making interior trim yet but most 4dr Gbody interior will work form the rear doors forward.

Josh,
I'm glad to hear that he included a good rear bumper and that the window trim is there. Don't lose the trim.

As Kevin said, you can use much on the interior pieces from a 4-dr sedan. At least the A & B pillar trim, door panels, and pretty much from the front seat forward.

How's it going with the column?

I will be on the lookout for a 4 door in the scrap yards then. Would really like to get a different set of door panels and monte carlo gages and surround among other things. The column is gonna work i think, its in a lot better shape then the old one and im hoping with your instructions ill have functioning delay wipers. Thanks Jack

Let me know when you're ready, and need help. We'll get it worked out. :) When you install the later wiper motor, you'll notice that two out three mounted bolts line up. One will have to be drilled, and you'll have to use a nut and bolt in that hole.
You also have the option to spot weld a nut on the mounting base. Either way it will be fine.

Does your (new) column have a delay or non-delay switch? Which ever you use, make sure the motor is compatible with the switch.

Another cool wagon score! Well done. Maybe soon we'll outnumber the sedans?
