i traded a 89 suburban for this 1983 malibu wagon, its a 305HO/th350/7.5 3.42 open.
car was a total mess when i got it, PO had lifted it then the guy i got it from cut the springs without losing the lift blocks... yeah..
it had a new edelbrock and hei distributor in place of the feedback qjet, the downshift linkage was completely useless and the electric choke wasnt hooked up oh and the distributor was in a bit off so timing was around 4 btdc and couldnt advance any farther..
to date i have fixed the timing, swapped back tires from 205/60r15 to 205/70r15s, fixed downshift linkage, installed a tach, and im in the process right now of changing the intake resealing the front cover and adding water injection. i have a th400 that i think im going to install... thats about it for now! look for updates in the coming weeks!!

Good luck! Looks pretty solid. Still sitting on the cut springs and lift blocks?

yeah, i have NEW springs for the front that my buddy donated but havent gotten a rear set yet. ive also replaced the fuel pump and the front shocks, one of my front shocks broke the tie strap at the bottom and almost broke off on the street in front of my house!!

im tempted to replace the rear springs with air bags and schrader valves at the back bumper..

The idea of rear bags has been swirling around my brain for a little while, I think it's the best option for lower than stock suspension and a decent ride.

And what's the water injection for? (Sorry if its a dumb question.)

well the water injection my buddy gave to me for doing some work on his cutlass, its supposed to make for a cleaner running engine that gets better mileage. i figure ill try it just running water and then try a water/meth mix and see how that works. if nothing else it should make the engine cleaner inside.
