G-body + Mini Blower

Postby 87regalkid on Tue Aug 14, 2012 10:48 pm

I' ve been looking into adding either a 142 or 144 weiand supercharger to my 350sbc in my 87 regal. I was just curious what kind of cowl would be required for a g-body to keep the sleeper look.

Right now I have a stock regal hood with a reproduction turbo scoop molded to it to look like ram air induction, which sits about 2" high. If 2" is all that I need, then I will cut a hole underneath it to make room and make it functional if it is worth doing.

Thanks for any input,

You might be able to get away with a 2" cowl and a drop base filter with a 2" element. I'd have to measure mine but I think i'm more than 2" above the top of the hood with a drop base filter and 3" element.

Thanks for the reply,

-one more question though; overall, is the blower all you hoped it would be or are you not 100% satisfied? Pros / cons

Thanks,

Hmm, how to answer that? Well my plan had been to run the 177ci with better heads. Instead I found this already done with a 142ci and Edelbrock heads. For a few years it was everything I wanted it to be. But now I want more, and there just isnt much room to go up with these smaller blowers. If I were starting from scratch i'd go with a ProCharger. It's double the cost but will make much more power. I think the prices on these small ones have gotten out of hand. When I got mine Summit sold the 142 for 1100+. I'm on the fence as to wether they are worth the 2200+ price tag they carry now.
