Hello, Im a newbie i own a 1985 GP LE and i just pulled the old 305 for a targetmaster 350 with 30,000 miles on it and i am running into some issues which i hope you guys can help me with. I put on a performer intake with a 1405 carb and im having issues with the tv cable and throttle linkage. Should i buy one of the universal throttle bracket? Can i use the factory bracket?
Thank you in advance for any input

Get a different bracket from jegs or summit. They are designed to adapt the TV cable to Edelbrock carbs to keep proper line pressure in the trans.

Thanks i will call them for a part number so i can order it. Will the lock up converter work if i disconnect the the carb and distributor and use a vacuum advance distributor? Most of the wiring harness still is intact or should i get a lock up kit? What are you running? thanks a bunch

The lockup converter should still work, but i am not positive. I have a lockup kit on my 200-4R but i eliminated my ECM. I am running a complete TV cable kit from Bowtie Overdrives. At the time i put my 200-4R in the simple brackets from jegs were not available so i spent $200on the complete kit to make my TV work with my Holley carb.

Cool thanks do you think the trans would survive behind the 350? The 350 has Edelbrock carb and intake, Hooker headers with a 2.5in dual exhaust sytem .My car also has a rearend out of a 86 Monte SS with 3.73 gears. The engine as far as i know is a stock targetmaster crate engine so i dont know what cam it has nor the compression. the trans is out of 84 Oldsmobile Delta 88 and i just want it to last till i can get it rebuilt.

Yes get the cable geometry correcter. It should hold up behind your 350 as long as its not abused. Change your filter and make sure everything looks ok. My 200-4R is mildly built with a good shift kit and it survives behind a stout 383 that i run hard. I also have a 3.73 geared rear out of a MC SS that has held up so far, but i dont run slicks or go to thedrag strip.
