haha. don't worry, the 307 is just a reliable place holder for now. :P Not positive what I'd like to replace it with. Depends on what pops up when and if I can afford it.
Future plans include paint of course, and this spring I'll be putting in a 7.625" LSD (from mebe007 here on the forum) with 28 spline axles and 3:73 gears along with some new control arms and larger sway bars. I'd like to do the Jeep steering shaft swap as well. My planning is still vague but the concept is that I'd just like the car to be quick and handle better than a canoe on Lake Michigan.
Other than that I'd like to fix my tape deck and get my rear seat re-covered. Not sure where to go for either of those issues..

New sway bars and control arms arrived. Pics when I can. Might not be able to install them for a while.

If you could find it cheap what motor would you like to put in it?
In the muscle car era if it had a small block it was your moms car. When you turn your car on does she return the favor? Life's short enjoy your ride. Hybrid burns gas & rubber. Check out my photo album.

Hey nice to see another Regal in IN! I'm working ( very slowly) on my 85, slowly gathering parts, hopefully one of these days I'll get around to putting up my build thread when I actually can start making progress...good luck with yours, looks like you've got a good start...

For a long time I was thinking Buick 350. I think that would be the coolest engine to put in it. Now I'm drawn to ls engines because they're aluminum and make good power stock but I know that's gonna be a pain to do. Mainly because I'd be keeping the fuel injection and I'd try to do a manual trans swap. So, if I come across a cheap Buick 350 or an even cheaper Olds 350 then I'll be tempted to buy it. That way I can keep my current trans and I won't have to mess with the gas tank. I wouldn't mind keeping my Holley either but it's 600cfm. Is that okay for a 350 or is it not enough?

I've actually driven my Regal down to your neck of the woods to visit family once. Had my arm hanging out the window the whole way down. That was a nice looking sunburn. I'd love to go to some of the car shows down there.

Well you've got my attention.
What trans did you use? Did you switch to a carb or keep the fuel injection? If so, how much of a hassle was the wiring? What did you use for engine mounts? Willing to share how much this swap cost you? :?: :?:

My swap is on the board under "engine swaps". I have a wife and four kids (lots of expenses) so I really couldn't sink a lot of $$$ into the car. I have probably around $3000 in the swap (motor was $1300 of that).

I used the Trans Dapt mounts for a Chevy S-10 swap, I run a 700R4. My motor was from an Escalade and I re-used the oil pan and accessories. I am running a Holley carb.

307 Regal, In case you didn't see them; viewtopic.php?f=13&t=31138 and viewtopic.php?f=13&t=30999

Yes you can use the small Holley on a 355/360ci Buick but most sbb intakes are set up for a spread bore carb like a Q-jet so it may require an adapter. It will also likely cost you some driveability and a little power above 4,000 rpms vs an equally tuned q-jet. The Buick 350 would look great could be a stout but enjoyable dependable driver and get lots of nostalgia coolness points. Thats said LS1GN did a great smart job on his Regal to. Its definitely the in thing. Both can be a great route to go just depends on what you want.

FWIW I have a friend lifetime enthusiast former GM employee runs a small auto shop and towing business that has a garage full of GM engines as in more than 30 that he has pulled and kept over the years. He will sell them one at a time reasonably to individuals who are looking to do something like this with them. Last time I was out there he had two Buick 350s and an Olds 350 and and and. I looked we are a little over 300 miles or almost 4 hours apart but if interested one could be shipped, picked up, and since I'm off work possibly even delivered. PM me if you are in a position to buy interested and no offence but are not wasting my time.  8)
PS Both unfortunately and fortunately he is not an online kind of guy. Calls me to look up stuff for him once in a while.

Well thanks for the information. Unfortunately I'm in no position for an engine swap at the moment. I've got a bit too much on my plate right now. I'd ask you more about them but there wouldn't be much point since I'm not ready for one. Once I get my rear end rebuilt then I'll see where I'm at. I might be starting in on the paint after that (which the car really needs). Gotta take it one step at a time. I will remember it though.

EDIT: and yes I've seen those threads too but I appreciate you tracking them down. I was following Blake442's swap pretty closely. Looking through all of the sbb swap threads on here it seems like valve cover clearance is pretty hit and miss.
