I have a 350 now with a 200c trans. I going to swap a 700r4 into it. Does anybody know if the yoke will fit and how much I will need to cut off the driveshaft. I know it's best to just install and measure but it would be nice to install it in one day and be done with it if possible.

I don't know about the TH200C, but for a TH350 to 700R4 swap I did 20 years ago, I had to cut 3" off the driveshaft. That was the only mod the shaft needed.

I would think the TH200C is close n length to a TH350, but have never owned one.

by this chart the transmission lengths are only 1/8" different so your driveshaft will work and I think your slip yoke from the 200c will work with the 700R4

http://chevellestuff.net/tech/automatic_trans_dimensions.htm

The upper part of the chart isn't right.

The lower part where it says a 700R4 is 30 3/4" is correct. Weird they have two dimensions for a 700R4. As I have said many times: "Anybody can put a table on the internet. It doesn't mean it is right"

I missed that, thanks for pointing that out...

Could there be a difference in length on a 700R4 depending on a car or truck application or depending on 2wd or 4wd?

My car had a TH200 in it when I bought it. I swapped in a TH350. I used the same driveshaft. The TH200 & TH350 are almost exactly the same length. If cutting off 3 inches is what it takes to swap a TH350 to a 700R4, it should also work for the TH200.

Maybe, but what would a Chevelle website care about the length of a 4X4 700R4? The "Cut and Paste" internet table strikes again to confuse and misinform.

I would have loved to not cut 3" off the driveshaft of my '72 Chevelle, but I had to for this swap. If I had swapped in a 200R4 I could have used an unmodified drive shaft. (I didn't know this at the time and I slapped my forehead because the Greenville Transmission Clinic in Greenville SC - where I lived - did great work with the 200R4)

20 years ago I think it only cost me $35 to have the driveshaft shortened and balanced so it wasn't a huge issue. Those were the good old days.

Nice thanks guys. I guess 3 inches is the unanimous ruling. The chart is interesting. While i was looking at the top chart I said to my self that cant be right. Well I guess i wasnt. Still a good reference point.,
