Isn't there supposed to be a gasket , bushing between bar and frame bracket ?

There should be a felt grease seal on the frame bracket side. A good ball stud kit includes it. All the Z bar pivot hardware is the same back to the early '60's. All the needed parts are avalible from any good resto shop (see some of the site sponsers.)

Looks like it has been welded on but not sure if it was like that from factory or had been repaired. As long as it works and it did , that's all that matters . Went ahead and got a Hurst shifter.

Man, wish I had known you needed a shifter. I have a brand new Hurst Competition Plus shifter for the Saginaw that I'm not going to use. Paid an arm and a leg for it. Has maybe 100 miles on it. I'm going back with a T5.

Also 'The Parts Place' is also a good source for parts. I bought my new Z bar from them.

Wow Texas , yea wish I got involved here on the forum much earlier !! The shifter and rods were quite pricey. The original stuff was shot . Took me awhile to find what I wanted . They just don't make it ! I was going to go with a Muncie but I would have had to cut the original tunnel ram . And to be honest I'm not looking to race the car and wanted to keep it as original as possible.
