Anyone have a pic of where the chip guard goes on a 84 or 83 hurst olds? Maybe someone could upload a pic and circle the areas? I have an idea of where it goes from what I've read but a pic is worth a thousand words! Also, my I'm doing body work on the car & it is in partial primer, should I spray these areas with the rock guard b4 I take the car to get painted? (Areas will be prepped of course)

That's we used my father used in his body shop years ago. Typically we went 1/4 way up between the lower body line and the lower edge of the rocker/quarters/fenders. Not sure if that's factory correct though

You could PM 83hurst#1812. He has an extremely original 83 H/O.

I have an original 84' Hurst...starts sbout 1/2 an inch below the bodyline...there is none on the back of the fenders...go figure...thats a place that would be beneficial to rock chips...putting in a couple pics for reference...that yellow tape is 1 inch so it starts 1 inch from the stripes...mine is very smooth so a thick saturated coat of it should work....also a smooth transition from the edge so you might want to use some aperture tape at the top...it is not a hard line per say...hope it helps...would definitely get some other peoples descriptions before you do it.

The 3M spray can won't mimic the factory look...you would want the 3M Rocker Shutz that you poor into a Shutz gun if you are going for an original look...if not the can will be fine...when I repaint mine I'm leaving it off...probably spraying the whole car black with gold stripes and the Hurst logos and trim and grill will be flat or satin black with a W40 logo somewhere on the car...I paint for a living every day...about time to paint my own.

Thanks, that helps. I will likely use the can stuff, just wanting something fairly close to original. (I don't have a shutz gun or anything) I'm guessing after these areas are sprayed, I should prep the rock guard areas with 320 or 400 grit prior to paint? Your rock guard looks pretty smooth, a lot of them I've saw were pretty rough looking.
