I've got an extra set of empty door shells for my '86 Monte Carlo that are in better shape than the ones on the car now. I daily drive the car and I would like to have the extra set completely ready to put on the car instead of having to take all the internals out of the doors I'm using now. I have found handles and latches but I can't find the other internals (all the rods, etc.)

Does anybody know where I can get these internal parts or am I gonna have to find 2 doors at a salvage yard and remove the parts from them?

You are likely going to need donor doors. They are going to be very heavy to install assembled. You will need some sort of door jack and a helper I would think.

That's what I was afraid of. I was hoping I could order the parts new. I've got plenty of connections in the salvage yard business though. I guess I'll try to find some damaged doors to steal internals from.

I'm expecting hanging the doors to be a challenge. I was thinking of a way to hold them up with a jack last night.

Certainly some of the stuff is available new but it will be too cost prohibitive to buy it all new and some of it I'm sure is not reproduced. Also, genuine GM stuff in good condition is better than reproduction any day.

My dad bought one of these to put on his floor jack and he was happy with it.

I wasn't around to use it but for the money it seems like a good compromise between having nothing and the high dollar dedicated floor jacks. See what you think.

On the bright side, you don't need straight rust free donor doors. You just need complete donor doors.

Yeah, I got lucky on the doors. They came with the car. The guy was like "I've got an extra set of doors if you want them."
I checked them out and they were perfect. There was no way I was gonna leave without them. It was funny trying to stuff them into my fiance's '03 Impala to haul them home.

Try starting a conversation with G-boz. That would be the most direct way of contacting him.
