Looking good Donovan. Glad to see you got the glass back in and all of that work done to the car. I don't know how I got so far behind on your thread. I've been kind of busy lately but I didn't realize how much I'd been missing. Keep up the good work man.

Did some cleanup and sanding to the driver's side wiper arm yesterday.

I sanded out all the various nicks, scratches, and marks in the aluminum and stainless. It left me with a very nice "brushed" finish that I really like.

I think I'll be utilizing this process and finish on other parts of the car once it's time for it to go back together.

Donovan, I really like the "brushed" look on the wiper arms and cowl piece! If you have other parts planned for the same finish it should look pretty cool when complete.

It's almost a happy accident in that you were cleaning them up and the brushed finish caught your eye!

Definitely following along as usual to see what's in store for the car, regardless it will look unique when complete!

looks great, as usual!

I've been planning an idea of doing it on all my trim pieces on the Regal for a few years now, bumpers and all...back when I was working the commercial counter at the parts store, I had a good customer that restored/ customized older BMW's and did this to few. I had forgotten about doing the wipers and the panel... all the little stuff we don't think about till it's time!

FWIW I like the exhaust tips.

FWIW MPO is the tail lights and bezels are all cool on that body style, done right.

The treatment of the wiper arms is way cool - almost like a nickel plating - would be a cool look for all the bright work on a car and might be less work if the trim was too much work to polish back to shiny.

As always, looking good!

Cheers - Gary

Looking good Donovan! Before you know it, she'll be back on the road!

Thanks Kevin.
I wish I could agree with your comment, but I don't think it's looking all that great at the moment. In fact it's looking a little rough around the edges, but I knew what you meant, and I thank you for the compliment.

As far as being back on the road soon, the plans for a "rolling restoration" for this year have pretty much been abandoned. All I can hope and plan for at this point is to continue to make good progress in the months to come, and get it back on the road sometime before spring.

Agreed on the taillight bezels Eric. In researching the 442 paint scheme for this year of Cutlass, I came across a few pics of the painted bezels on the H/O cars. I really didn't care for the look. I won't be duplicating it, besides that, I've already upgraded the taillights and bezels to the more rare and desirable '78 only chrome bezels with the rocket cutouts in them. I like them much more.

Thanks for the feedback!

I love your work. I can't say it enough!

Duly noted...
Lol
The jury is still out on the tips. Some of you like 'em, some of you don't. I have a feeling it'll continue to be one of those things that no one will ever agree on.
I think what I'll do is leave them on in place, but not weld them on just yet. I'll continue to keep my eyes peeled for a style of tip that maybe suits the theme of the car a bit better, but if nothing appeals to me more by next spring, then I'll make them permanent.

It's nice to see you back on the thread here!
We all get busy with our personal lives, and time continues to tick by.
No worries my friend.

As of that post, I had really only done the one wiper arm tho. The second one is now done also, but the cowl piece is still polished, not brushed.
As for the effect, I definitely like it too, so much so that I decided to experiment a bit more with the look.
More on that to follow!

Just keeps getting better and better and bett........

Thank you! Appreciate the compliment.
There's been a ton of unexpected work up to this point, but I'm really hoping I've got the more difficult areas done and out of the way now. Hopefully now I can get back on track, and have things go a little more quickly again.
