meh, do what you want with it. It can and has been done. I think what gets everyone going is that for every dollar spent you will make more power with a 350 with room to grow. Whereas a 305 caps off at a lower power level.

Stroker pistons for a 305 will cost more than a whole Vortec 350....and it will have a hydraulic roller cam?

$750 for the kit and $175 for the balancer and flex plate to balance the kit. $925 and you still only have 334 cu. in. from your 305. Might not be the best investment on your part. I have done 9+ vortec strokers builds using a standard bore 880 vortec casting. Very little wear in the bore so its just hone and install a $900 kit from ebay includes the balance and free shipping and bolt together. Or just a set of rings bearings and a cleaning of the vortec block can be done for under $250 and $200 for the long block assembley. $450 and you have a 330hp hyd. roller motor that bolts up to what you have. Cam up grade and some help with the valve springs and its 400+

if you are only going to 'cruise' the car, just rebuild the 305, without stroking it - they last forever, good on gas and are torquey for a small motor - if you want a 'beast' get another engine - just my two cents.

Info you get here might not be what you want to hear but most of the guys (gals) here have been there and done that. Although the info may be a bit derogatory, we are only trying to keep your best interest in mind. Check out Northern Auto - you can get a re-ring kit for under $100 - rings bearings, gaskets. Been using them over 15 years.
