It's not a roller motor

There are roller motors and there are solid roller motors. The difference is about $2000 (think solid lifters, but with rollers).

As a general rule of thumb, most hydraulic lifter motors like going through the traps less than 6K. If you target 5.5K for your intended speed, gear, tire height and converter slippage, you have headroom to go faster.

For a solid lifter motor, they can still be making good power at 7,500, so you can use more gear or shorter tires, looser converters, etc.

Slow down a little - this isn't a b*tch fest, you posted you were working out the bugs and there is a lot of experience on here to help you and that's just what they want to do. A lot of the info didn't make sense and yes you don't really know what you have. If you lay your cards on the table and let them read themselves we can make some constructive suggestions, if not I'll shut my trap and SORRY !

Jim, most of us are gear heads and everything in our car is readily available in the brain so understand the WTF. Hey - get well, if you want to discuss your car, get your combo together and get back with us. You will get to know some of the guys here, we have a bunch critics to comedians - funny to sarcastic guys with something in common. I had a 46 year run with GM - Detroit Diesel

Let's clear the air here:

Dear membership, just because you create a thread not everything in it is about you or your subject. A conversation may develop inspite of your personal wishes... if this occurs and you don't like it - that is too ****ing bad because this is a public forum.

And unlike a facebook forums are a long standing record base which is openly searchable via a search engine. Meaning that the accuracy of the information contained therein needs to be sound. If you want "likes" and poorly worded pats on the back take your *ss back to facebook.

Here we are going to thrive on technical discussions and collective experience to the direct benefit of the community.

Also if you are drunk, high or on heavy meds - refrain from posting as your words are a direct reflection on who you are and will impact your credibility/reputation.

Old Car, New Car, Never expected such a strange thread to occur. I am just a regular guy runnin the new car with the old engine. Never thought this was gonna turn into a bashing, expected more from this site. FYI::::: I don't even have a facebook account, never did, never will BECAUSE of sh*t like this! I was only trying to help out the dude with the alternator issue, no disrespect to any others on here. Ran the Monte this season for the first time, with the tires that came on it, never had to make any changes to wheels or tires so I never really paid attention to the size, a lot of fellow racers are suggesting torque converter change for a little more launch on green, SO fkn forgive ME............. This was supposed to be fun.............. people sharing ideas to help each other, showing off their rides etc.

as you can see from the carnage, this was very devastating after owning the Camaro almost 20 years, all it took was one little old lady not paying attention in a 55mph zone and G'Bye................ Luckily no major injuries on either side other than this loss....

Greetings Jim & all; I'm sorry to here of your loss, 20 years you probably knew every detail about the Camaro. Many of the guys here have had their cars for many years (38 for me) & know every detail down to the last screw (OK bolt). Also as you've experienced we have some serious racers, drag, Auto-X, open road & even road course guys. The picture of your car may of led some here to believe you put most or all of together & now we know that's not the case. Give us a second chance to be helpful without being to critical. I'm getting older & I see new information is not being saved in my brain as well as I except. And old info is getting harder to recover so I won't except you to remember or know every detail of something that is relative new to you. Get well & enjoy your ride. And as time passed you will come to like us "G" car guys. Plus we will give you way too much info, your brain will be full & you will have to forget something else to make room. Hopefully it won't be your wedding anniversary, Ole' Bob.
