Quarter window install-DONE!!!

So I've dug through the threads and haven't really found what I need. I will be installing the quarter windows on my Cutlass once it leaves the paintshop.

The question is what is the preferred method, or product to use to seal them up properly? From what I've read and video's I've watched everyone seems to use the 3M ribbon sealer butyl tape.

Is the 1/4" stuff (PN#08610) a good size to ensure a good seal? I only want to do this once if possible.

that's what I used, I just stretched it out kinda even and not too thinly... seems to have sealed them on the regal a couple of years ago, and haven't thought to check on the GP from a month or 2 ago...

Cool, thanks Darin. Did you use the 1/4" bead, or a different size?

I'm wanting to say that it was the 1/4", but I'm not for certain... it's a box I've had stored in the Regal trunk for a few years now... you're not going to use that thick of a bead anyhow, as it'll squeeze flat as you tighten the nuts down... I just made sure that I had a fairly uniform bead before the install.

I did mean to say, you should be able to pick it up at your local auto parts store... I picked mine up @ advance when I worked there...

The 1/4" will work fine. When tightened , it smashes it down pretty good. I know from taking these windows out, it's maybe a heavy 1/16" think. Also you want to make sure the car is inside in a heated area before installing so the caulk is pliable...timo22

Gotcha. I checked at Autozone today while out playing in the freezing rain/ice and snow. All they stock is Metro brand in 3/8". I can get it at Oreilly, just wanting opinions before buying.

Thanks Tim. The Cutlass will be in my brother n laws heated garage so there shouldn't be an issue on it being pliable.

The Fisher manuals call for that type of sealer for the quarter windows. I thought that stuff came in 3/16" but can't find any.

I also used the 1/4" and stretched it a little thinner, anything thicker than that you have to fight to get the window flush.
