Not a lot of info on decoding 307s, I think it's an '86 Engine.

Nearly all the complaint's of gutless 307's were the later swirl port motors like your motor. They are reliable, low RPM torque motors, high RPM breather's they are not. Small swirl intake ports, basically a larger ci Olds 260 with a 4 bbl feedback carb and roller cam.

so the 86 307 is not a high speed motor but it has good torque on the bottom end just not a lot of hp? so should i stick with it for daily driving or get a 350 out of a 70's and rebuild it ?

The pre 77 Olds 350's or the 77 to 79 403 are much easier to get power out of. Only keep the 307 if maximum mpg is your goal.
