For 3900 I'd take the new '69 kingswood... sure, a camaro/Chevelle would be worth the most, but it'd also be stolen right quick if you used it much, and the insurance on that as an unrestricted driver would be ridiculous.

But a brand new land yacht wagon? Those don't come around the block. Be fun to daily drive something like that.

If I was in the market for a new car in 1969, it'd either be a 69 dodge super bee, with the lift off fiberglass hood, vinyl top (to prevent scratches :p), a 69 charger triple black with ac, 69 GS400 skylark, 69 trans am, 69 gto judge ram air iv, 69 boss 302, 70 AMC Rebel "The machine", 69 f100, 69 bronco, 69 c10... wait how many were we limited to?

Building is still there.

Would love to go there with the Malibu for a meet and photo op.

It's about 30 minutes from my house, I drive past there maybe once a week.
It is good to be so close to it. One of the places I would love to get a pic of the Monte after it's finished.
But to go back 49 years, grab them up, hide then till today. A reason why Doc needs the Delorean.

Yeah, I'm in the right place at the wrong time.

69 Firebird 400 4 spd. Paid 1200.00
69 Barracuda (notchback) 318 4 spd Paid 1000.00
69 Super Bee 383 auto ram air Paid 350.00
69 GTX 440 4spd Paid 150.00

Those prices sound ridiculously low, but, for the youngest members they'd do well to know that min wage was about $1.30/hr back in 69... heck, only $2.30hr come late 70s...

Compare that to today where min wage in many places is up around $10/hr, basically gotta multiply the prices by 10x, then factor in that only a couple years away from new those were gas guzzlers during an oil crisis and resale fell like a rock.

I agree, these cars were bought between 77-82. Back then there were a lot of choices and all of them could be fixed in your driveway. Back then you could buy a car with a bad engine or transmission and a few hours later you were up and running. Today, with mostly FWD cars available, a 2500.00 car is pretty much done when the engine or transmission bites it. I refer to them as BIC lighters because they are pretty much throwaways. Junkyards are full of them and most have nice body’s and interiors.

I would rather have a gbody that's cheaper than a chevelle with high performance like a camaro and still have money left over.
