Just picked up another ElCo, it's the first G body. I want to change to a floor shift set up. I know there numerous after market shifters. I am leaning to going stock, but going with a newer model year model shifter. Any one on here have experience in going this route.
Thanks in advance for your input

Newer than what? A "newer model year" will most likely be a 4 speed trans, which will be good assuming you have a 3 speed and want to upgrade to OD in the future. It's all really just speculation as your post is vague as hell.

How about an introduction? Tell us about your ride and what you're trying to achieve. Pics are always welcome.

Excuse me for being " vauge as hell". It was just a question to see if anyone had gone this route. Right now it is a 79 El Camino. Under the hood is a 350 with a few tweaks. I will be running a TH 350 that has had a little work on it. I know I can easily go the aftermarket route, but want more of a stock look but upgraded. Looking for something from a late 80s to mid 90s Better or Camaro. That would include the console was well.
I have been a Chevy fan from way back. I have had pretty much at least one of complete line. Impalas, Chevelles including an El Co, Nova, Vega and the wife is on her second Camaro. Plus numerous trucks.

Anything from the 90's will most likely be from a 4speed auto

My Monte didn't come with buckets and console so I modified a 78' Trans Am console to fit and added a B & M Megashifter.

Very nice set-up, that's very close to the way I want to go. Is the cage one off or made by a company. It looks great also

Thanks, the bars I bent myself using a HF tubing bender on a stand.
