I know this subject has been beat to death so why not some more. I'm going to order parts today for the 6.0L swap in my 84 Buick. Friend says to me yesterday: "You think the sump on the GM Performance Muscle Car Swap oil pan is still too deep?" And then my brain exploded, and I started looking at the really expensive Holley stuff. What's the right choice? Money is and isn't an object here. I don't mind paying for convenience on something like this. I'd rather just have all the right parts in a box ready to go, and not scouring the wrecking yards for overpriced hard to find F-Body stuff and or Cadillac stuff.

Thanks!

I plan on using the stock truck pan. I know it will fit and the ground clearance shouldn't be too bad. I can get a skid plate if need be. I've seen it work before!

I'll be using the GM swap pan which is just a Hummer H3 unit. I just can't justify the money on the Holley when the pan was included with the short block I bought.

If I needed a pan, I would buy the Holley. It looks nicer, does give better ground clearance, and they now have one with NPT ports already drilled.

I used a CTSV pan on a 5.3l, 85SS swap. Clearance is good. You can buy one brand new, with pick up & windage tray cheaper than aftermarket ones. Not much more that what people are asking for, for a used F-body one.

I used the Autokraft because it's the shortest with the best baffling, 5.5" tall, better build a skidplate it you are using a truck one, especially if lowered.

Is the leafy beaver prevalent in Canada? LOL.. I used the Holley 302-2 but don't remember paying $350? When I did my swap I couldn't find anything else that didn't hang below the frame. Nice piece and it is pricey....BUT for a few bucks more it gets the job done correctly and is part of the overall system that is engineered to fit.
