your patience and attention to detail never stops amazing me! I probably would've thrown in the towel long ago! when you go for the Riddler award, at least you'll be able to show your journey!

Looking good. I am too covered in Daschund's to even get the new garage door finished, although I am almost done. I just need an excuse for my incompetence.

Pretty cool that you were able to save that door Donovan. Awesome work as always.

First round of blocking on the door is done.

Hit it with 120 to start...

...then guide coat before switching to 180. Unmasked and addressed all the edges, now it’s ready to go for remasking and 2-3 more coats of high build.

It didn’t block out 100% perfectly the first time, but then I didn’t expect it to. That’s why you prime, block sand and prime again. Pretty damn close though. I burnt through in a couple areas, mostly along edges...

...but certainly nothing to be concerned with. The next round of primer and sanding will level out these last pesky spots. All in all, I’m extremely happy with how it went, this is an awfully big panel and a lot of real estate to get perfectly straight right outta the box.

I think I’ve said it before, but I pity the first asshat that comes up to me and says I painted it white because “it’s very forgiving” and “white hides a lot of sins” because somebody gonna get a hurt real bad. Straight is straight, and not is not. Regardless of color. I’d certainly have no qualms about painting this car black if that’s what was called for.

We’re getting a little short on time before Christmas now, as most of you read this today I’ll be over at Mike’s helping out with the ‘57. I may be able to squeeze in the reprime on Monday afternoon as we’re slated to have a half day before Christmas Eve dinner, but I’ll have to play that by ear.
Sure would be nice to have it done and ready to progress before Christmas though!

I plan on logging in some serious hours over the holiday break, I’ve got a lot I want to accomplish that includes stuff in color and back on the car.
So stay tuned...
😉
