I used the upper part of a '95 Z28 tilt column on mine, everything from the tilt towards the steering wheel. Only thing is that I had to use the ignition lock & key from the Z28, but this allowed me to keep & make fully functional V.A.T.S. system.

You want to use the 85 and earlier S10 column. The lever is different in the later first gen S10s.
You need the lower bowl with the lever, the upper bearing housing as it has a guide for the lever and the ignition switch actuation rod. Those are the pieces needed to make a manual tilt column. You will need to get the automatic shifter tube/lever from the column. You also need the upper mast from the S10 and press it together with an A/G body lower. One extra step would be a manual g body lower mast without the holes, but it isn't necessary

I think that is the easiest method....thanks

I got lucky to find a '78 that still had its complete column with key still in it in the junk yard many moons ago.

I have to question the 95 vintage, though. Don't you mean 85?

My thought is getting a console shift column or getting the collar and swapping it out on the original column. Have not got that far yet. I also have thought about grinding the auto shifter lug off, filling and painting.

That shift collar is the last item removed when disassembling the column. Grinding it off is the easiest way!

The metal is pretty thin so I was thinking taking apart and glassing both sides. Not sure yet and open to ideas

All that I did was grind the shifter off, do some filler work, paint and retai the original Column. Been this way for 15 years and never had a issue. And Turna is correct for S-10 column years

Not the best picture but here’s my car with the original automatic column grinded off and repainted
