I've been doing research on finding a suitable replacement for the run channels in my car. I've read through the research thread https://gbodyforum.com/threads/g-body-run-channel-research.44625/ several times, but have a few questions still as some solutions seemed vague.

Am I correct in that part numbers AS1799 AND AS1720 from Restoration Specialties are both used to make up the run channel for one door? It seemed from the thread that some parts of the channel are different at certain points on the door. I can't compare by looking at my own as mine turned to dust years ago.
I dont mind if they aren't exact fit or finish. As long as it's close or effective is all that matters to me.

I would also like to see pics of these solutions installed if at all possible. Thanks guys.

I'll have to look back at my notes, but the biggest problem I encountered was with front window channels. The vertical section(s) parallel to the B-pillar is where the problem comes in. The other channels come close...not perfect, but close.
The vertical channels are not reproduced or duplicated. My suggestion is to either find NOS OEM channels or get them out of a clean 4-dr that's being parted out.

In my case, I was able to find an NOS left side complete channel, but could not find a right side channel.
I later managed to find an older NOS right channel that I was only able to use the vertical section and completed the other piece with an aftermarket channel.
In other words, you gotta be creative.

This is who I've dealt with before decided to retire. http://dannoenterprises.com/ Too bad.

Thanks for your reply Jack, I was hoping you would chime in since you played a big role in the other thread.

That was exactly what I wanted to know. I gathered that the channel was different in places, just couldn't decipher exactly what part was being talked about with the wording.
So the front, downward section (the runs perpendicular with the A pillar) and the top are the only ones that the aftermarket B body ones will work with, correct? And that was the AS1799? Is the b pillar portion just so drastically different that nothing can be substituted?
I'm not so sure I could even get ahold of NOS. I know of a 4 door parts car but its been sitting in the woods for years. Doubtful that there is anything left of those channels.

The B body piece works for the rear piece on the front doors. The situation is that channel of the door is wider on the inside than the outside on that leg only.

My wagon currently has the same channel on all 3 legs of the front doors, which is better than the old broken stuff that was in it, but I do plan to replace the rear leg when the car is blown apart.

Run channel. There are no real one-piece repros, but there is roll stock that you can use

There are a couple of threads on it here, Jack probably has the numbers to use at hand....I'll have to dig through the receipts for what I used.

Originally, they were molded in one piece, and were a fricton fit in the door's metal run channel guide.

On wagons, there are 3 different pieces to use, one for the front and top of the front doors and rear doors, one for the rear door division bar, and one for the rear of the front door. The one for the back of the front door is a little harder to find, not all of the weatherstrip places carry it.

The 3 above are what I used, I bought them elsewhere for less, but the vendor has retired

Ribbedroof that is exactly what I needed to know, thank you! Thanks for clearing that up for me.
My only other question is, is one 8ft roll (of the front and top stuff) enough to do both front doors?

Looking back at my notes, I used the AS 1720 on the forward and top channel,,,one piece. and the AS 1720 on the forward and top portions of the rear window channels. I used the AS 1198 on the rear upright channels.
I think the 8' roll might be slightly shy by a few inches. ..and again, one side I used an NOS channel, where as the other side I had to improvise.
I may have purchased the same upright piece from Restoration Specialties that Brian indicated, and I believe it was not quite right. I think I still have the piece...let me check. I shall return.

You just missed out ( 1980 Century 4dr )... I scrapped the doors yesterday, and the rest of the car today. The 1pc channels were in good shape.I pried one out on the passenger side to see if they were usable. They were. The guy from the other thread wasn't interested, so away they went. I did keep the front glass, front upper door panels, arm rests, and b-pillars, if anyone is interested.

That's too bad, James.
I thought for sure someone would have wanted them. I'm sorry I didn't approach you about them.
