Florida sun beating on your windshield seems to loosen them easily....especially when you don't want them to fall off.
While we're on the subject. Does anyone recommend a good product to glue the tab on? The Permatex stuff that I use seems to only last several months...despite how well I clean and prep the area.

I used this product, the button still fell off when I hit a huge pothole but it took a chunk of the windshield with it....

I've been told that nail polish remover works.... mine always fell off before I could verify it.

I have had luck using fishing line. Heat the area just like the others have said or let it sit in the hot sun, put the line between the glass and mirror mount work it left to right like a saw working your way down. It should come off

The best, most dependable, strongest glue to use is

the one you used when you glued the button on upside down.:blam:

You'll never get that effer off....

The Permatex mirror adhesive is good to use. What I do is take the button and flip it upside down and sand it with 180-220 on a flat surface. I sand it till it is completely uniformly flat.
When the car is done for the night, clean the area as described in the instructions. Then, I glue JUST THE TAB to the windshield, then leave it to cure overnight.
In the morning , put the rest of the mirror on, and tighten it down. Good to go!

........and to answer the original question, take it to a glass shop for removal.

Thanks everyone! My buddy owns an auto glass shop. I hit him up and he said almost everything you all said...needless to say the Cutty is going to him so he can knock it out for me. Appreciate all the great input!
