Possible leak?

My 1985 cutlass has some wetness in the carpet on the passenger side i thought it was water but it has an oily feel to it but its not oil also the driver side is dry any suggestions?

Easy peasy. Accessed through the engine bay. The hardest part will be separating the hardened sealer on the heater box. There are plenty of writeups online if you’re unable to figure it out yourself.

The passenger side of the cowl is the access point, no need to get into the dash. One of the better ideas GM did come up with.
