Installed Moog K6187T (Idler Arm): big difference. The wheel bearings were repacked, tightened. The passenger wheel was a bit jumpy at high speed. Question: Does the front end require alignment when changing idler arm and drag link?

* I called O'Reilly Auto Parts for price match which they did for MOOG K6187T. When I entered the store and asked for the MOOG part, they placed a MasterPro idler arm in front of me. Wasted my time, effort, and money: "Never again O'Reilly". Called customer service and Stephanie said a district manager would contact me within twenty-four hours: "Never did". Sent documentation online and never heard from O'Reilly again. Purchased at Home Depot for $27. 40. O'Reilly's price, $51. and change. This was the classic bait and switch method.

* By the way, I can corroborate every word verbatim for "all my calls are logged". Apparently, O'Reilly does not wish to hear the recording. I could upload here but there may some who may be offended in hearing the truth.. AND, with one party consent in our state, "It's legal".

When you repacked the wheel bearings did you over tighten them a tiny bit, spin the wheel back and forth a couple of times to help seat them, then loosen them off to where you can just line up the cotter pin ??
If not, this could account for the passenger wheel being a bit jumpy.
And it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have the front end aligned just to be sure that it is properly lined up.

* No issues with the bearings as the MOOG idler arm solved the problem. I guess that's why Moog refers to the idler arm as the "problem solver". In terms of alignment, the car is as straight as an arrow, after the idler arm installation. Why should I align something that is straight, "Hands off wheel drinking tea"? A master mechanic (Oldsmobile) once told me not to touch the alignment unless necessary i.e. > pulling to one side or another. One time I had a tie rod replaced and this Master tech actually got mad at me for wanting front end alignment.

* Anyway, what do you think of O'Reilly?
Thanks very much for your interest.

We don't have any O'Reilly's here in my area, and I don't think that I have seen any in Canada in my travels,so I cant comment on them.

Thanks, were not aware you were in Canada. Last time I was there I visited St. Joseph's Oratory. Very nice people who treated me most kindly, even the university when I got lost.

That comment was made in the 80's. Even though you may consider that to be funny, I have not had my car aligned since then: installed tires, drag link, idler arm, ball joints. The evidence is there. Still, "Straight as an arrow": Irrespective of what any may say". I'm not a front end alignment guy but his opinion seems to have held up to this point (2019).

if you have not had an alignment for the last 30 years, changed all those components along the way without needing a wheel aligment why would you ask if you need a wheel alignment for changing the idler and drag link....

"Opinions" as to see all responses. I forgot, majored in the sciences, 'psychology'. This may be construed as being sly but I believe that I can extract information as to see who knows what AND if their response is valid or not. No offense.

By the way I left the evolution class whereas the professor said, "The same exact conditions exist this day to create human life. I said, "Let's conduct a lab experiment with all the environmental conditions you claim exist" and let us create human life. The professor said, "Don't talk foolish Thomas". I walked out, slammed the door and turned my back on science, never to return. Please, do not equate or associate any analogies as relating to science, "Do not care to hear it, Not at all".
