As far as the TACH, this is a mystery to me......o_O.....I may remove the gauge cluster again and do like the owner of the GBody You TUbe
channel did and solder a wire across the terminals and be done with that crazy plastic device used by the OEM.

I was hoping to NOT have to take that gauge cluster out again........but you either do it right............or get someone else smarter to do it for you.:ROFLMAO:

I think I'll be soldering a jumper to take the place of the factory doohicky. I've been in there once before when I got the car and you'd think it'd stay tight for more than 15 years. I'm glad to hear the LED dash bulbs are working good because I bought them in hopes to cure the notoriously dismal lighting in these cars.

And it sure sounds like the oil pressure transducer was shorted out causing the gauge to read max high. Keep us posted on the resolution of that issue.

Any chance you can tell me about the led lights? Brand, part #, etc. Been thinking about doing the same thing but a lot of the led bulbs I'm finding are significantly longer and I dont want to end up with bulbs that won't fit.

The oil pressure gauge inop was tracked down to be a break in the copper circuit under the plastic on the circuit board.
I peeled back the plastic a soldered the connection and VOILA..........instant oil pressure reading............

The tach is still out to lunch. I have purchased a replacement and hope to resolve that issue...........even soldering the terminal
and removing the DOO HICKEY didn't stop the issue of my tach not resetting to 0 on start up, always adding a few hundred rpms
each time. No way to zero the needle so the tach is accurate once and then it becomes useless...........

My tach on my 1980 has never set at zero when I shut the car off it works but when I shut the car off it kind of bounces down to zero but ends up at 800 rpm and always bounces to life when I start the car not sure if this is normal bit it seems to be with my 1980 olds Jeff

Well mine will show a 1500 rpm in park at idle so I know it's way off.......I bought another tach and between the two I can
get one to work.

Mine does do liike yours when it shuts off the needles rises to 600-800. I turn the key it bounces down to zero and then bounces up
to 200...............next time it bounces to 400 ,,,,,,,,,,,,and each consecutive start adds like 200.

It zeroes out after removing it and reinstall and then the progressive climb begins.....
