What about the electric fans. what does everyone run or plan to run?
I don't remember what Scott used, but we used a set of fans from a 4th gen F-Body. It required very minimal trimming of the fan assembly and fabbing some little sheet metal mounting strips. Same radiator so it should work well in a G-Body. I know the Intrepid fan setup is popular but I believe it is a single, two speed fan. I like the 4th gen F-Body setup since it has two fans, which pairs well with the GM PCM. We used a Painless fan relay kit, which was admittedly overpriced but convenient.

Check out post No. 73 for pics....

That's with the Griffin radiator but we are using the same setup, slightly modified with the Champion radiator. The Champion radiator fits better. We have the fan assembly in upside down, relative to how it would be in a 4th gen Camaro to clear the 2nd gen Camaro's steering gearbox.

Edit: The 4th gen F-Body fan assembly would work well with the Cutlass radiator top plate.

I personally like the aesthetics of the 2 fans. With the relay kit does the PCM tell the fans to come on?

I'm running some Spal knockoff fans that have been great, quiet, and do a fine job cooling. I have the relays mounted behind the firewall and the wiring hidden.

A 2 core with 1" or larger cores will out cool a 3 core and also a 4 core. The standard, small 2 core will not.

Mine is a CC162DP which has inlet/outlet on the pass side and is a Dual Pass. I can't review the cooling capability yet as I've yet to get running, but the overall fit and finish is spot on. View attachment 115281

I have the same radiator for my 79 Malibu 6.0 combo. Which rubber mounts did you use and what top plate is that if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve been trying to plan this part out as I’m about to finish the motor and trans. I bought some prothane big blocks bushings but they don’t seem to fit the radiator well. Thanks

I ended up using stock rubber saddles on top, just cut out for clearance. I also have a urethane set on bottom that I did the same thing for.
I actually went back to a stock style hold down as the sheetmetal one in my previous pic wouldn't for the life of me fit the radiator right. I also changed the top radiator hose last week to one that fits better than in this pic.
