You have the parts to covert it to a hardtop and would prefer that it is a hardtop then that is the route I would go instead of spending more money to replace something that should have never been there to start with.

I was quoted around $400 a few years ago by a shop in my area (north side of Houston). They didn't specify how much or little disassembly/reassembly that included.

I don't understand. What do you mean when you say "if I keep the roof"?
Whoops, meant prep. Phone autocorrect hates me. Prep as in remove all trim, prime, paint, repair rust, etc. Basically just paying for the material and labor.

I planned on doing as much removal as possible before I would drop the car off, I said that to each estimate and that's still the range I got.

My wife drives this one the most and she likes the vinyl top. This was her daily at one point and and when it was repainted she didn't want to drive it in fear of scratching it.

Paid about $600 for a new landau top on my fathers 84, about 8 years ago. That was the entire job removal, install, repainting the trim and for the mate

Paid $800 here on Long Island two years ago. The shop did the whole job, I just dropped it off and picked it up. For anyone nearby give Peter Burd a call at Moonlighting 631-563-8077
