Well the answer to the regulator really depends on your power goals and thus how the fuel system will end up long term. I just installed a new AC Delco on mine, but it will probably never exceed 500hp at sea level which is why I dropped an in tank 320 in and was done. You can make a lot of juice these days on the modern in tank offerings. Do you intend to swap the cam? The intake looks like a big bottleneck to me as well, so intake alone will get you more legs, but a cam would help a lot too to add some usable RPM up top. Megasquirt is an excellent EMS, since you'll be able to get it tuned properly you should have nothing to worry about. Just don't forget to plug the vacuum reference line back in like I did. It's a bit of an act to do the injectors in the vehicle, there are a couple of bolts at the back of the intake down low holding the rail/lines/regulator down that suck to get to. Also, be super careful with the injector clips. They like to snap the tabs off of the rail.

I don't know if my brand x experience can help, but:

what canI do for an upgraded fuel pressure regulator?

You said you plan to add boost down the road. I have years and years of experience with FWD turbo Shelby Dodge cars, and I've had great results using Accufab adjustable FPRs. (As it happens, our cars use the same unit as the Grand National.) The adjustability is nice, as it lets me easily fine tune at the strip for atmospheric conditions. The boost-referenced port is also a big plus for a turbo car.

Maybe that info will help?

So, you’re saying i can run an accurate Buick gn style fuel regulator, and it’ll fit the l29 manifold and rails? Can you link me to the style that will work?

Nope, not at all. I'm saying Accufab makes high quality adjustable regulators. Do they make one for a stock L29 application? I have no idea. It's worth looking into, though.

Is your current regulator faulty? If not, I'd just run it as is and not worry about replacing it until you need to do so.

His likely is. They all suck on the L29. They cause hard restarts among other issues.

Ah, okay. I converted my engine to carbureted from Day One, so I never had the pleasure of finding this out for myself.

Do you have a build thread or something? I have a GenV in my carb'd Monte that I've been wanting to top swap over to L29.
