The project has begun to ramp back up again though. Recently I completely rebuilt the heater box.

The guy doing the steel work on the body has been sending me some pics and it’s starting to get me excited. All rust repair is pretty much complete and he’s now neck deep in the mini tubs. Notice the entire package tray cut out.

He’s worked with/for some of the big name shops in northern Illinois and now has his own little shop. So far, the quality of work is awesome and I’m glad I picked him. Once the steel work is complete, the tub will be off for e-coat.

I’ll need to have the motor trans situation figured out here shortly too, I want those planted on the frame before setting the body back on it.

I just read through your entire thread. Love it !! Build what the factory didn’t, and improve the rest. I have 1 question, I didn’t catch if you narrowed the rear frame. If you didn’t, how much use will enlarging the tubs be? I guess if your dropping it real low that would give more upper tire clearance. I’m not critiquing, just wondering. As for the one in Turna’s pics, he obviously bought the bumper cover before he decided on the taillights. IMO they look good except for the center strip. Paint it body color atleast. It stands out like a sore thumb.

Thanks! I did narrow the frame. I used 1/4” steel and took about 1.5” out of each side. I also backed the inside of the frame and braced it to keep as much strength as possible. We’re extending the tubs the same 1.5”. My 315 tires have about 1/4” clearance minimum to the frame and will fit in the wheel wells with some minor modification to the lip. The fronts (275 width) will require a little massaging as well, but we’ve got some ideas for fender mods and custom inners.

275's fit on the front with just a good front suspension. That's what I've been running on all four corners. Good looking build BTW.
