Still surprised guys are only seeing a 150 rpm gain, I always see 250 to 300 rpm on different vehicles and tachs. I am currently using the TCI lock up kit in my 88. It works quite well but the vacuum switch will need adjustment with your bigger cam. What shifter are you currently using?
I'm in the air about my shift. My factory slapstick is for a 3 speed.

I would love a quicksilver if I can keep it under console but have also considered a factory 4 speed shifter out of a newer Grand Prix.

Interesting question.
I'm still learning but am trying to find this.

I've been reading about rpm range all morning. The guy who built my motor was a pure Pontiac guy but I'm no longer in touch with him. Wish I could get back in touch.

With that, my cam is a Lunati as follows.
I'll continue to read. The technical direction on this site forces you to read about things which has been great.

I've learned so much in the past year from immersing myself into the internet.

If you are cruising out of your RPM range your going to chug
So if your cruising at 1600 RPMs but your cam is made to run at 2200
Your car is going to chug chug chug along

Find out the cam part number and look up the correct RPM range

Then you can make a choice
