Im think of trading for a 88 cutlass which is 77k original miles. It is an original LV2 car which from what little I could find are pretty rare. It now however as really nice fresh paint but is done up like a 442. Any idea what the value of it is?

LV2[edit]
Oldsmobile used the popular LV2, a 307-cubic-inch (5.0 L) engine, commonly known by the VIN code "Y", from 1980-1990. It was used by every domestic GM automobile marque except for GMC and Saturn. In 1985, roller lifters, floating piston wrist pins, and swirl port intake runners were added. The 307 "Y" produced 148 hp (110 kW) and 250 lb⋅ft (340 N⋅m) in 1980-1984 models and 140 hp (100 kW) and 250 lb⋅ft (340 N⋅m) in 1985-1990s. All LV2s feature a 4-barrel carburetor.

NADA puts it around $4000.00 what ever that's worth. On another note, with this virus I think the classic cars are going to take a hit.

LV2 wasn't anything performance. It pretty much was a decal and a spoiler addition if memory serves. I do believe it was Olds sanctioned, though. Adding the 442 stripes that weren't supposed to be there is only makes it a faux faux too.

In that regard, since it is no longer original, whatever value it used to have, is no more. That's just my opinion.

Wow, nice shiny paint. That color looks great when they are fresh. Looks like the previous owner went 90% of the way to making a 442 clone. The gold stripes should go around the wheel wells and it likely doesn't have the 442 8.5 rear end. If memory serves me the LV2 got a 3.08 rear gear with the standard 7.5" housing. Based on the pics, the car looks clean but the price will be reduced considerably if it was driven in the salt and has any evidence of rust. SSIII rims look nice. What are you trading? BTW, welcome to the forum. Looks like this is your first post.

I would be trading a 46 ford hot/rat rod. I value it at around 9-10k. Gbody prices seem to be all over the place especially since theres original cars,perfomance/swapped cars,donks...etc. I figured I would ask you guys that specialize in them

G body prices are on the rise for sure. Especially clean, unmolested examples. Post some pics of the undercarriage, lower door seams and engine bay. Considering you can spend 5-7K for a quality paint job I would feel comfortable with paying 9K. Personally, the fact that it is no longer an origonal LV2 sport coupe is meaningless. The positives for that car are that it is a low mileage hard top with the factory buckets, console and the desirable SSIII rims. A little more work with decals and it will look like a proper 442.

Can the stripes be fixed? Because they're one short on the sides and front/rear. Two of the stripes go over each wheel arch if you really want it to look like a 442. Unless you like them like that. Everything under the hood looks original and in very good condition. Depending on the area, 9-10K isn't way out there. If it's solid and no rust, I'd probably do it if that's the car you really want. It's just trading a car, so one may be worth more, or one may be worth less. If you're both happy at the end of the day, it is a good trade.

Since the LV2 striping is gone, it's not anything super special anyway. But if the paint is as good as it looks, it may be worth it. You still need to check underneath for rust/rot. If that's good, you're already winning. If the engine is all original, you may want to consider a new timing chain. Because one of these days, that nylon rimmed cam gear is going to come apart.

Hot rod and rat rod are two very different things. However, I'm not really into the valuation of any given car, I believe the market will ultimately set the FMV.

I agree that if both parties are happy with the deal, that's what really matters at the end of the day.

Assuming you make the trade, if it were me, I would remove the "442" logos, as they're going to be a sore spot with many that know the difference. Nothing wrong with doing it up like one, but the minute those decals went on, the perception of fraud began
