Anyone know where I could source replacement trim pictured? It's 1 3/4 in wide. Everything aftermarket that I've found is either 1 3/8 or 2 in, no one makes 1 3/4!!

This is plastic, and as you can see it's pulling away from the contours of the front bumper. I've removed the rear already figuring that it would be easy to source, but got surprised.

Should I not be able to source something, any ideas on alternatives to the trim? There's a channel that needs to be filled. I'd rather not put body filler in the car, but for the nose piece and rear bumper I might consider.

TIA for the feedback.

I believe gbodyparts.com recently came out with a strip for the LeMans bumpers but can't find anything on their site, might be worth a call. Not sure how good of a match it was, I'd guess close but not perfect like most of the aftermarket trim seems to be. Some seems to be things found that match "close enough" but aren't really made for that purpose by 3M or the like.

Have you checked Auto Zone or Advance auto stores for Chevy or GMC truck side door trim.
I know quite a few 78-80 Monte Carlo owners are using that style trim due to the mylar bumper strips being like hens teeth to locate.

The original factory moulding is pretty much impossible to find. The very best you can come up with is a body moulding that was used on Chevy/GMC trucks in the 70's and 80's. I have bought it and used it on my Grand Am and it matches the factory moulding. You can by it by the foot or by the roll. Check out ebay items #301989280511 or #152588337755. If I knew how...…..I'd attach the link. Here is a picture of my GA with this moulding on it. Good Luck!

So is there a "how to" remove and install these front and rear mouldings?
I am assuming a hair dryer and careful prodding to get it off. And putting on the new ones especially getting it to stay around the protrusion in the front bumper.
I have to do this on my Grandam, as the replacements on it are very blotchy looking now with those little white spots all over them.

And notice, this replacement doesn't have the center ridge like the original, but its the best we have to work with.
Also, the original style has a top and a bottom due to the offset ridge on it (correct me if i am wrong). I know of someone who had, in his stash, and then used his original front GM NOS one on his car several years ago, and it had not aged well even prior to putting it on.

You can just rip off the old trim off. It will leave the studs mounted on the header panel. They all need to be removed before installing the new new trim though. Or you can crawl underneath the front and remove the nut on each of the studs. And there are a lot of them.
There are 2 almost identical replacement (GM Truck side trim) available. I don't have the numbers handy...1 is slightly wider then the other.
I do know when you order it online, it will say that it is black, when in fact it is the chrome with the black stripe like Jatguit posted.

I uses a 2 part adhesive at each end and at the point of the nose....

Don, you can simply copy the entire link from the address bar of the site you are on and want to link, and then paste it into your post here.

If you could copy and past your car into my driveway, that would be great! Put some poverty caps on it and it is exactly what we had new in 1978!

Found a picture of the part...
here's 1 vendor...
