Hey all. My sh*t don't fit together. I have a 462606 bellhousing and a clutch fork from the parts place that came in my conversion kit. They don't fit together at all. I realize I need to buy something else. But which one of these things is wrong?

Somehow it seems as though the clutch fork is not in complete alignment with bell housing opening. At least that's how it appears in the pics.
Have you tried bolting a trans up to bell housing with the fork and throw out bearing?
From what I understand, there is various clutch forks out there using different angles to engage the throw out bearing.

Looks like you did not get the right bellhousing, despite the correct number cast into it. The problem is where the fork pivot hole was drilled. On the left is a snap from your post. See the pad with the clutch pivot hole - the hole is in the upper half. The one on the right is a photo of the '606' bellhousing that came in my 1980 Malibu. The hole for the pivot is in the bottom half of the cast-in pad.

Here is the difference between the A/G pivot location, and the 'normal' Chevrolet pivot location.

[The comparison bellhousing is from an Astro van - for some unexplainable reason, GM chose a T-5 with a Ford bolt pattern for this application.]

You have other options to get a manual into your G. More data here: https://garage-scene.com/wp/t5-install-bellhousing/

However, if you can't resolve that problem, you could weld up the hole and redrill and retap it in the right spot - it looks like some welding has already been done on that bellhousing. You do have the correct fork. If you abandon ship, let me know, I could use a spare fork. Even the repros are getting hard to find.

Since yours has already been repaired once, I'd go for this one...and it's just down the street in Leominster.

If the extra fork isn't toast, you can make back some of your expense selling me a spare. ;)

Figures. I was just in Leominster yesterday. Lmao.

Sucks I actually bought this one. Found the crack cleaning it and had it welded, before my conversion kit ever arrived. Still a minor inconvenience compared to what engine swapping my Chevette was

Wonder if it came out of a Monza? I have a fork for one of those somewhere in a box.

H-body forks would have the ball stud in the upper right side of the bell housing & would have the throw out bearing in the middle of it.

I had a Monza bell on the 350 in my Chevette since both used a cable setup. The fork came out at the perfect angle for the floor too.

I'm pretty ashamed of myself for overlooking this... I just googled the casting number and bought the first one that came up on ebay
