CUTLASS ‘79 Cutlass Wipers and Headlights issues

Hi!

Trying to make a conversion to delayed wipers on my ‘79 Cutlass Supreme. Got a new wipers motor with delay option from Rockauto, got a switch from abandoned ‘80 Cutlass sedan but nothing happens. First of all I saw that new motor has two more additional connectors. The first is for green wire and the second one I connected to “+” when ignition is on (is it right?). As a result I got no changes - in delay position wipers runs as in “Lo” with no delay (see the video below). What’s wrong with them?

The other issue with corner lights and cluster backlight. When I turn the ignition on, corners and cluster backlight starts too. I can regulate the brightness of corners with the dimmer switch but backlight stays always bright

It will most likely be an issue with the switch being a different year than the wiper motor. '80-'81 used only the green wire from the switch to motor as '78-'79 used the green plus a brown at the motor side then connects to a white on the switch side. I'm getting this info from my Chevy wire diagrams but it should be the same across all divisions. It might be easier to get a '80-'81 motor then run a green wire from the switch to the motor. Not sure what headaches you'll have returning the '79 for one listed for a '80.

Thank you. I think it will be faster and cheaper if I make a new harness to wipers instead of searching the new one here. But I don’t know how). Where I’ll connect the brown wire? How I can convert the ‘80 switch to ‘79 harness?

You'll need the '78-'79 switch in order to make the wiper motor work. The '80 factory switch (per Chevy details) would of had a green wire jumper harness running from the switch to motor. The '79 would have a three wire jumper harness with two going to the motor (green, brown, brown/white) that would connect to a three wire lead the switch (green, white, orange) (may be a specific connector to the switch with the lead or a seperate jumper harness, Olds owners would have to add their knowlege for the correct way the factory wiring was done) and one running to the fuse box. After sourcing the correct switch it would be easier to use the motor you have but my opinion is the swap for the motor to match the switch. Did the '80 Cutlass have a wiper motor in it?

So sad, but no). If I need a new motor I will buy it in America. I think it will be a more difficult but cheap way for a people from other planet)

Also I have a connector on my ‘80 switch which was chopped off, but I can use a solder if it can helps. It seems workable with my multimeter
