Did you swap in the 9 rear in the car? Curious why you dumped the 8.5? Nice car, obviously your 2004R is built for bear as well to survive behind a 455 that goes 11s in the 1/4.

Yes. Swapped in the 9in, the 8.5 didn’t hold up very long lol

The th2004r is well built, so far no issues with it, it is an Art Carr trans, honestly I’m pretty sure it was the shock of the stall converter that blew the 8.5

Curious on what blew in the 8.5"? Too bad Olds didn't keep the bolt in axles, at least eliminate one failure spot. You must be hitting hard to break the 8.5". I have only blown up the 7.5" in my 88 but my sh*t is slow. I feel confident in the 8.5" Type O in my 70S till I blow it up.

Welcome to the site from Houston. Beautiful car! I love the color. Care to post any underhood or interior pics? I love the drivetrain selection.

I had an eaton carrier and true track set up with all arp bolts. The ring gear was also wire tied. Anyway it broke 3 of the main cap bolts and put the carrier part way out the cover....

She’s a bit tight under the hood. I just realized I do not have too many under the hood or intierior pics. I’m not a big fan of chrome anyways. I prefer the subtle look.
