Hey there. I'm making a thread for a build of my first car I started 2 years ago. I got an 87 Monte Carlo LS. Speaking of myself, I'm a 17 year old out from Minnesota. I'm Enlisted in the National Guard with an MOS of Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. ( will do an update with pictures)
I got for I think $200 bucks in total. Traded for it with some nissan that needed a MAF sensor. We got home on an oil change and some praying with a can of starter fluid. But long story short with alot of shortcuts and seconds guessing and yelling, the 305 didn't cut it. So the 305 ended up at a scrap yard. Bought a questionable 283 from a coworker of my dads. Didn't open it up except for the pan but threw a TBI intake on it without thinking. Didn't work out despite many attempts otherwise. Got an edelbrock torquer II intake threw that on and she would start. Cylinder number 1's piston decided to quit on me and crack. So we pulled it out and I brought to my moms and tore it apart in a night. We bought a running 350 and threw it in with the edelbrock intake as well as the edelbrock 600 that came with the car. Gave her a few spins around the block on open exhuast manifolds. Said **** it and drove it 2 hours to my mas. Since then I found out the transmission is going out. As well as the 350 is a 4 bolt main in great condition.
So plan for the engine build at this time is a set of camelhumps with the 1.94 and 1.50s. Might go bigger on the valves. Then I have the choice of two intakes. Holley street dominator tarantula style single plane or the edelbrock torquer II. I want to do a dual plane intake, I'm open to suggestions. I got two holley 600s cfm I haven't decided on what to do with and If I want to go bigger than that. HAven't picked a cam but I am doing a roller. Mostly cause the camelhumps came with comp cams 1.52 rollers. I want a forged crank just having trouble telling if either of my two are forged. HELP me. I also need a passenger turn signal lense and assembly.
