The chances of that 010 block being a 302 is ..... almost zero. It could be a 307, 327 or 350 in stock form.

You’re my hero with that single axle trailer pulling with a Ute (I think) For 12 hours. Holy shut, how’d that go and stop :):)

That is non rusty unit here. Sometime when you’re halfway around the globe we’ll make a visit to the local pick n pull and check some 10 year old rust buckets.

Great score though!
I'll get it checked out when i pull it out, starter motor to get it running which i'll try sort tomorrow. And yeah always an interesting drive with the single axle, all good unloaded but get a load on you have to have ya wits about you lol. 90 kmh is her limit loaded, helps keep you awake i'll say that much lol

I was wrong/mistyped about there being a possibility of it being a 307. It's a 302, 327 or 350. Need to measure piston travel or r find a number on the crank - those are the only ways I know of how to tell.

Good find! It does look pretty complete. Is it going to be a builder or parts car? I guess it depends on the rust situation...that nasty four letter word.
Is it rare to see lowriders in NZ?

Shes a parts car this one, looks not to bad in the pics but shes rotten. A b & c pillars are gone & all round the roof plus a heap more & yeah you dont see low riders much over here, i think hydraulics are illegal here

Still a good score. If anything, despite the rust situation, it's an excellent parts car. I'm sure like you said, parts for a Malibu wagon are hard to come by.
You done good.

Now the interesting bit with this is it's meant to have a 350 in it but from what i've found on the net its a 69 Z28 302 - engine number 3970010.
Check the front pad on the fuel pump side & look for the ID code - 2 letters for '69 engines, 3 letter for '70-'80 engines. DZ would be the code if it was a 302. Another note on the '70-up engines is passenger car engines will be Cxx, truck engines will be Txx.

So got the engine fired up & sounds all good, carb was toast crappy old quadrajet then after a few minutes the fuel pump died but no smoke rattles or knocks so will use this instead of the 305 & see how it goes. Ordered a new fuel pump & eldebrock dual plain manifold & picked up a 600 holley this arvo, will slowly keep chipping away at it i want it going by xmas. Self employed so don't get a lot of free time but with all this covid business she's quietened off which while not the best has give me some toy time between jobs - i'll start posting some pics as she goes together (y)
