So doing a camshaft upgrade for this season and I'm debating on changing cylinder heads also. My current heads are 781 large oval port with 219/188 valves 115cc chambers with alot of port work done to them best of my capabilities motor is a 10 to 1 static compression 496. So I have another set of heads with 98cc chambers (427 TD heads) large oval port with 219/188 valves that were installed by a friend no port work tho which I could do and would put this motor right to 11-1 static. So my other friend has a new set of bare patriot heads 320cc (rect. Ports) with 119cc chambers which with a thinner head gasket would still keep me at 10-1 static ,he has good quality parts for these heads and I can get them for a pretty fair price. I have strip dominator for both oval and rectangle port heads. Car ran 10.20s last year on 150 shot of spray that was rich 11.2 on the AFR gauge . Goal for this year is to be in the 9s

Those Patriot rectangle port heads should be quite a step up as compared to most any stock oval port unless you're porting skills are excellent. I would guess that the Patriots should outflow your current heads by at least 40cfm - the rectangular port is reason enough to swap. If your porting skills are good, then they shold be a great improvement. What are you considering a fair price?

The patriot heads should be about 75 lbs lighter as well. I think even a junk aluminum head will outflow any garage built oval port head so I don't think you can really lose either way going to the aluminum. And like was said, the aluminum will help with cylinder temperature especially on the nitrous. One thing to note though is the aluminum should have a raised exhaust port so that may affect your header clearance. I built a 496 with 317 Promax heads on it with 2.25/1.88 valves. The car made 2 crappy passes a few years ago and went 10.30's at 135. So I don't see the heads hurting you on spray. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Seeing how spray cools the intake charge, you ought to be able to lean that thing out quite a bit from where it is now, yeah?
I did end up leaning it out by using a larger nitrous jet coming to 12.7-9ish and it picked up 3-5 tenths in the 1/4 according to my draggy ,hard to make same exact passes were I test at but definitely ran better plugs looked better also

My porting skills aren't the greatest at all but I have run these heads oval on my old motor unported with big valves ,and did alot of reading and research to port them to the best of my capabilities and it was big difference, as far as fair price I can probably grab them for 700 we were talking before

Just a guess, but the new heads will be 2.25/1.88 over the 2.19 stock head. Also the aluminum should be 11/32 stem valves instead of 3/8" so that will help higher rpm stability.
