Picked up a Magnaflow 53956 spun cat to see if I can tweek my set up a little better & came across a fit issue. It's suppose to be a 2.5" I.D. but don't make any contact with the 2.5" O.D. pipes. I got out the old caliper & it's measuring out at 2.575". Could it been a possible oops by Magnaflow with how they form it. Compaired it to the 91006 cats I have but the pipe ends are ovaled shape & run from 2.51" to 2.565" I.D. I would like to run the spun cats since it gives more crossmember clearance & looks to give a better fit of the passenger side pipe. Looking to see if anyone have ran into an issue like this or just see if O'Reillys can get another one to compair.

Had O'Reilly's order in another that came in this morning. Stopped in before work to compare it to the first one & it measured in at 2.515 with the caliper. So a simple swap & now I have a correct size one to work with. All is good for now.

Could zip some slits into it, compress it down with a clamp, and weld it on that way. I'd like to get a pair of the metallic spun cats onto my 1500 at some point.
On my 99 Tahoe I bought MagnaFlow front cat system. Pipes and all, 1 piece install. Went in like original equipment and doubled the performance of the vehicle compared to just headers, true duals, and K&N filter charger. People that drove it thought I had a big block in it. Worth the money.

I cut my X pipe to fit the cats close to the engine. No fitment problems at all with a Strongman crossmember, plenty of room.

I'm running with a G Force & this cat fits nice in the stock area. I have Flowmaster down pipes coming off a set of mid '70's manifolds that didn't give enough space in that area with the other cats I have with out being really creative. I do have some of those from Summit I'll use. Next is to see when/if I'll be getting the new replacement tailpipe (MCSS type) from Pypes to see if I'm using that kit or the Jegs one I have.

They must have used larger than the factory 1 7/8" wimpy *ss head pipes. Mine has long tubes, but I may revert to shorties as they're 12 years old and may rot out at some point. I'll have to keep this in mind.
