As some of you may know, in January I travelled to Nebraska from Iowa to purchase my thunderbird and unfortunately crashed the Uhaul.

3 months later insurance people from Uhaul are still hounding me asking for my insurance info and what not.

I don't understand why. One, I don't have any insurance of my own. I'm on my father's plan because I live with him and drive his cars occasionally. Two, I didn't use "my" personal insurance because Uhaul never asked and I purchased their dumb little accident coverage stuff for like $8. Three, it was a UHAUL truck and trailer. None of my vehicles were involved at all. I was on my way to ger the car when the accident happened. Plus, I have pictures and was far from the only car in the ditch that day.

Basically I'm on the fence about telling them to **** off or not responding.

Also, the accident was caused by 70 mile per hour wind gusts, blowing snow, and ice.

And I can't prove this, but the truck had a damaged drivers side outer tie rod which caused the truck to pull pretty hard to the left so along with fighting the wind I was fighting the truck itself.

So you bought the insurance and they're still hounding you? I'd hit the Google machine and see if you can find similar scenarios. Dig out your contract and read the fine print. See if there isn't something they can hold over your head with an end goal of telling them to F off.

Did the police come to the accident scene and if so were you ticketed?

This is the only question I ask. Did you have valid insurance, at the time of the accident?

If so, then yeah, tell them to frig off and block them. And since you bought their coverage, they have no business contacting you.

This is your best move. You need to know the deal before you make a move. Insurance isn't a problem you can just ignore and hope it will go away.

it wouldn't hurt to run this situation by your/father's insurance agent to get an other opinion on it.

It is not uncommon for an insurance carrier to get another policy to pay a claim, and then they settle with the other company.
I was rear ended a few years ago. Line of us waiting for a vehicle ahead to turn crossing traffic. Dude in a van blasted into a GMC Acadia Suv which in turn blasted me in my Dakota.
Driver 1 had borrowed the van and thru inattention caused the wreck which totaled all three vehicles. Although I was not at fault, my insurance paid out on my truck to close my claim, then they went after driver 1 insurance to cover their "loss".
I'll bet the ins carrier that U-Haul uses ( they for sure don't underwrite their own policies) is looking to find any avenue they can to recoup their damage loss to the van.
You can tell them to F-off, but I bet it doesn't go away that easy...

X2 on this. Might make you feel better for a bit, but no good will come of telling them to f-off and forgetting about it. They'll be back and quoting your ause that you gave them previously.

Facts will be your friend here, not the F bomb.

I do not have my own insurance but am under my dads. I dont know why it would matter. Its not my personal vehicle or trailer.
