Does anyone have any advice, or an opinion, on where to get an idea of how to price my car to list for sale? I've looked around several different sites and it seems like prices are all over the place. Mine isn't all original due to my stupidity in my younger years thinking the stock 305 didn't have enough power. Ill list below some of the modifications. I've owned it since 1995. Second owner. I just don't drive it much anymore and I think the time has come to put it up for sale. Any advice on where to list it for sale or what to price it for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

1987 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe
-In 2017 I had the 6.0 LS2 engine, transmission, computer, and everything that goes along with these installed out of a 2005 GTO that had 60,000 miles on it. I've since put less than 1,000 miles a year on it. Probably closer to 300.
-Almost all the interior has been re-upholstered except for the dash and door panels. The dash has 4 or 5 cracks in it but I just bought a fitted dash cover rather than replace it all.
-It doesn't have speedo or tach. I just use an app on Ipad that plugs in thru OBD2 and puts that info on screen along with whatever else you want to see from the computer. I thought about putting a cluster back in but I just don't drive it enough.
-I spent right at $2,000 to have a Kicker audio system put in with 10" subs and an Alpine head unit
-I put a center console in out of I believe a 04 Monte Carlo. Everything lines up well and they have built in cup holders
-It has 17" rims that look like the 15" factory wheels but give it a little better look in my opinion
-Paint is in good shape for it's age, but there are a few small chips and scratches. It was repainted around 2003 and has been garaged ever since
-AC blows cold but doesn't work on high

Looks like a nice car. What is your location and where has the car lived it's life? What does it look like underneath? Rust? Suspension/brake mods?

It seems like FB Marketplace is a pretty active place to sell cars. Don't be shy about posting this in the for sale section on this site.

Thanks. I've really enjoyed it over the years. It's been in central Missouri it's entire life. Mostly garaged except for maybe a couple years in the mid 90's. I need to get some pics of the underneath before I list it but it's pretty clean I think. No rust on the body that I'm aware of. I haven't done any upgrades to the brakes. That was probably next on my list if I hang on to it.

I figured I'd try FB and a few sites like this, I just don't really know what to ask for it. I've put a lot into just the LS2 swap alone, but I don't know if that adds value to a car like this or if most prefer to buy an all original. I've had someone local tell me they wouldn't sell it for less than $15,000 but that's just his opinion.

Thanks again

You're welcome. From what I can see it looks like a nicely executed swap. I don't know how to price it.

We had a member on here with an extremely nice, 1 owner 91C Malibu with a dated but very well built 406. He wanted $20k to get 'half' of his money out of it. He was the original owner. I think it took 3 years but he got his price.

In the end, it's worth what someone will pay you for it. I know that's not that helpful.

I asked about the bottom, because everyone will. I've seen some pretty nice looking cars that had some ugly rot underneath.

Has the car been lowered?

I think no speedo and tach is going to be off-putting and keep you from getting top dollar but that can be the next owner's project.

I agree on the tach/speedo. The shop that did the LS swap quoted me $1,500 to do a digital dash that looks really cool, just hard to justify when it mostly sits in the garage.

They did do a nice job on the swap. They've done quite a few over the years.

Totally understand the concern on the bottom. I'll get it up on a lift before I list it for sale and get pictures.

I lowered the front end 1.5" I believe just to level it out. Seems like they sit high in the front. I think the 17" wheels make it look a little "fuller" in the fender wells.

Appreciate the input. I'll look around some more and get some better pics before I list.

Underside pics are a big deal to a knowledgeable buyer that wants to use it as a driver. The rear frame tail areas especially because it's the 1st places to get rusted out.

After that, put it on a dyno and get some real numbers to include with the sale listing. Need to know what the trans is as well.

Drop $3-400 on a tach speedo that column mounts and you'll get that out of it for the right buyer.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into the tach/speedo and get the other info before I list it.

I have the dyno numbers from when they took it to KCMaxx after the swap and had it tuned. I'll just have to dig it up. Thanks

One thing I meant to say is that the functional a/c and cruise are big plusses. The fast fan speed could just be the blower motor resistor next to the blower motor under the hood, which would be an easy fix.
