The only reason someone would get all defensive about me calling this picture fake is that you actually believed this was possible but then realized you were one of the gullible ones out there that fell for it,
Yea, then again I work in a machine shop and have seem some really interesting things come through the door to get worked on..so there is that.
Hardly defensive though, if you have your lady bits in a knot over something on the internet, you must have a rough life.

While I think it’s a fake, anything is possible when hot metal and pressure are involved.

i can't begin to imagine how many 10mm's I've lost over the years but all I caught from this was perfectly shaped hole..nice job kids..
Tool steel vs aluminum alloy under force, anything is possible.

So are you implying that he really only has a 454 and calls it a 565 in the car too?
Not really, don't care that much to imply that. Was cracking a small joke playing on the words, seems like some have no humor and are a little touchy..

Seen this one twice in person with a small apex bit, as well as small screws and other things stuck in a piston. They seem to stick themselves in a spot where the valve is on the top side and it can lodge itself good.

I'll do some math for those who can't see it:

Idle of 600 RPM = 10 RPS (revolutions per second). That is if it's idling at this. So 10 impacts a second.

Take into account how long someone may listen to something clattering before shutting it down and investigating.

Seen some really interesting stuff happen.. just sayin.

I'm here to bring joy to others. :)

I can only imagine what's gotten into cylinders over the years.
The thing people don't think about is how. Not that hard really, that valve opens and something will get in there, hang it open and when the cam rolls around, the rocker opens that valve again and whatever is hanging there moves down more eventually into the cylinder as long as the diameter is smaller than the cam lift. Piston goes up and down beating the hell out of it and the head chamber, eventually the piece finds a nice sweet spot to lodge itself into the piston with the closed valve pushing it in at whatever RPM.

Guy down the street had this happen to his boat engine.. big cube setup, snapped that valve and it stood up in the chamber, so yea the socket one is quite possible.

Dad had a tall deck BBC (366) in a C65 drop a valve. The trauma caused the piston to expand and the cylinder block busted open. The crack ran all the way down the bore from the deck to the crankcase.

Mine was just me stirring the pot. Been laid up lately with nothing to do so....

You can only do so much shopping for car stuff online before you run out of ads to look at.
