It’s a locking converter, yes? If so, the stall RPM should not have a major impact the cruising RPM.
it is a locking converter.

I wouldn't dump $1200 into a 7.5. Hell, you're over halfway to something nearly indestructible.
I've got a guy that will sell me a newly built Ford 9" with G-body mounts "ready to bolt-in" he says for $2125 - he would build it on demand supposedly. He lives in my town so no shipping.

Here is his business webpage if anybody interested: https://8and9inchfordrears.com/

I got back the rebuilt 4l60e yesterday with a 4843TWBX GoPNH (precision of New Hampshire) refurbished torque converter, which was original equipment with the 5.7litre 2004 GTO. GTO weighs 500lb more than my 1984 Monte (3700lb vs. 3200lb) and has 50 more horses (350 vs. 300). The powerband of the LM7 shows like 340ft-lb torque at 2500RPM. I'm having a hard time determining what will be the approximate stall speed with stock 300hp LM7. The engine/trans came from 2003-2004 RWD Silverado. Do I have a good torque converter? My friend told me it is probably 1700 RPM stall speed - I contacted the manufacturer and asked. I see people on gbody forum using 1900-2500 stall speed torque converter. Trans not installed yet, so I can change the converter if convinced.

I'm going to put a 3.73 posi in the 7.5" rear - found a kit with rave reviews here: https://www.quickperformance.com/GM-75-7625-10-Bolt-Posi-Gears-Bearing-Kit_p_20409.html
I was actually thinking about doing this same setup myself on my 84, i was wondering if you had gotten to the driveshaft or headers and if you found any that fit/work right, hope the builds going well

Build was going amazingly until a crane blew over on the car and smashed the windshield and A-pillar... car been in body shop for two weeks now.

I had the driveshaft shortened something like 2" after measuring ujoint pivot to ujoint pivot something like 50+7/8".

Iron exhaust manifolds came with the Holley/Hooker swap kit and have no fitment issues.... One of the exhaust pipe segments (leading into X-pipe) was expanded on the wrong end in the Chinese factory and I am still trying to get that part replaced. Car would be running already if not for the exhaust pipe and me dropping a crane on the car.
