When I was in jr high I had a history teacher who had one of these, it wasnt as cool because he had it painted in green bay packer colors with logo and all. You can probably recover the one you have now for like $70. Pretty simple process, since you are in the mid west the glue will dry really well in the 90+ degree temps. Cool car!!!

Hello forum members,
I have a question regarding the headliner in a 79 Salon "fastback", AKA: the buttless Cutlass. Does anyone know if the headliner is the same as a standard Cutlass?
Also is there a source for the plastic interior panels next to the rear seats? any info on these would be appreciated greatly.

Thanks for any responses! I have a 79 Salon 305 4 speed car that needs some interior stuff. It is an odd car for sure. ordered from the dealer with a 305 4BBL (LG4 option), 4 speed Saginaw, 3.08 "posi" rear diff, tilt column, rally gauges, reclining buckets. I have a soft spot for the unique body style.

Thanks!
Chuck
Do you have the original headliner? You can carefully remove the fabric in the form from the substrate and then glue new fabric onto it. It’s way better than trying to buy an aftermarket headliner.

That's exactly what I did and mine had some light damage and I used some tape on backside to help make it have its shape throughout

Unfortunately, there are no aftermarket headliners available for Aero cars.

79ugly, do whatever it takes to repair your original headliner - duct tape, fiberglass, or patch panel(s) from another G Body.

That is really a bummer about the headliner as the original backer is mostly gone from the previous owner. I will have to try and make a backer board, anyone have a material they like to use?

I took a few pictures tonight and will post them now.

You can grab a factory coupe headliner and cut it and add material / tape to stretch it to the original size. Sure is tricky to not have lines show through

A few more, included are pics of the 305 that came in the car when i purchased it, at some point it had a "new" Goodwrench 305 installed 9i believe the date code was like 83 or 84). I checked the block # and that is what it says. Put a new rear main seal, new pan gasket, intake and v-cover and timing cover gaskets, v-stem seals. buttoned it up and painted it black, the original intake color was corporate blue like the bell housing.

Also included a picture from underneath showing the 4 speed and G-body specific clutch fork.
