Hi all,

I am new to this and hope i can get some help with my cutlass build here in Seattle. I have a 1986 white t-top Cutlass 442. Currently I dropped a GM 350 Goodwrench (1006636) it also has some heads with casting number 4036, so not sure what I have. I am new to carburetor motors so I keep getting stuck with everything. One thing I know is that this car had this motor in it before, so it's all wired up for carb, if that makes sense. Where I am stuck is the headers, I bought some and they hit the frame and I just don't know what headers to buy that would bolt right up. I attached some pictures, I have a long way to go, but I am determined to get this done.

  1. What headers can i get for a good price that would bolt right up with this motor?
  2. Does it look like I have the right motor mounts? If not, what can I use that I can get at the local auto parts store?
  3. Is this worth building, what's my car worth if i put some money into it?

Also if you are in Seattle, WA selling some parts or willing to help build (I will pay for the help and knowledge)

Thanks Ya'll

If that's an 86 I'd be suspicious.

Looks to me like you have a white 85 442. I'm betting the car has an FR in the VIN, along with the 9 engine code. And NO cowl tag. Am I right?

Two giveaways...it looks like original color on the main body, and there's no 3rd brake light or evidence one lived back there. In 85 it was a dealer installed option, in 86 it was factory and federally-mandated.

Get headers for a Malibu/Monte V8. They should bolt right in. That's about all I got.

Hey johnny206, welcome to GBF from Seattle (Tukwila actually), with a '78 Caballero and '79 El Camino.
We should get together some time soon and compare notes on our cars.

That poor car, smashed then assaulted by a sbc transplant. As said, consider it another chebby, anything made the factory sbc cars will fit.
